1. What this covers
How we handle personal data when you use yomijapan.com. The operator is the sole proprietor named on our Legal disclosure page.
2. What we collect
- When you create an account: your email address, your display name, and a one-way hash of your password. We never store the password itself.
- While you are signed in: a session record that includes your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string, so we can keep you signed in and detect abuse.
- As you study: the words you save to your vocabulary list, and which articles you opened and on which day.
- If you subscribe (from September 2026): your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, and its status. Card numbers never reach our servers — Stripe handles them.
We do not run analytics, advertising, or any third-party tracking script on this site.
3. Why we use it
To run your account; to apply the free plan’s daily limit and paid-plan entitlements; to show your vocabulary list and progress back to you; to send the address-verification email and service notices; to take payment; and to protect the Service from abuse.
4. Who else processes it
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, the database that stores the data above, and the sending and forwarding of our email.
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing and subscription records.
These two are the only processors. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.
5. Where it is stored
On Cloudflare’s global network, which means it may be processed on servers outside Japan and outside the country you live in.
6. How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Billing records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
7. Your choices
Email support@yomijapan.com to see, correct, or delete your personal data, or to close your account. Account deletion is handled by hand — there is no self-service delete button yet. We reply within 5 business days (Japan time). You can delete individual vocabulary entries yourself at any time from your vocabulary list.
8. Cookies
One cookie, for your sign-in session. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Blocking it will sign you out.
9. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email support@yomijapan.com and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We will post any update on this page and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects you we will email you.
